Tasting Notes
In the glass, Terralsole Trio 2009 shows a deep garnet core with brick-red reflections at the rim, a visual cue of its graceful bottle age. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry interwoven with dried herbs, tobacco leaf, and hints of cocoa, cedar, and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet refined, with velvety tannins and a supple texture. Merlot lends plush dark fruit, Syrah contributes spice and a touch of smoky meatiness, while Cabernet Franc adds lift, structure, and a delicate herbal edge. Flavors of blackcurrant, cherry, licorice, and earthy undergrowth unfold gradually, supported by well-integrated oak and a persistent, savory finish. Production
The grapes for Terralsole Trio IGT are sourced from sun-drenched, south- and southwest-facing vineyards in Tuscany, where the estate’s name—“Terralsole,” meaning land turned toward the sun—comes to life. The soils are a mix of galestro (crumbly marl), clay, and limestone, providing both structure and aromatic complexity to the fruit. Yields are kept deliberately low, and harvesting is done by hand to ensure careful selection of perfectly ripe clusters. In the cellar, the different varieties are vinified separately in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve freshness and varietal character, followed by maturation in a combination of French oak barriques and larger barrels. The final blend is assembled only after aging, allowing the winemaker to balance fruit, structure, and spice into a harmonious whole.

Food & Serving
This 2009 Tuscan blend pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes such as slow-braised beef, lamb shanks, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, and game stews. It also complements aged Pecorino, hard cow’s milk cheeses, truffle-infused dishes, and hearty pasta with wild boar ragù. Serve at 17–18°C (around 62–64°F) for optimal expression. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended to allow the mature aromas to open fully and to gently soften the remaining tannins.
