Production
The grapes for Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth come from selected hillside vineyards around Terlano in Trentino-Alto Adige, where steep, well-ventilated slopes, significant diurnal temperature swings, and poor, volcanic porphyry and quartz-rich soils naturally limit yields and enhance aromatic intensity. Vines are tended with great attention to canopy management and ripeness, and harvesting is usually done by hand to allow for careful selection of perfectly healthy, ripe clusters. In the cellar, the must is gently pressed and usually undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation, with a portion often fermented and matured in oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel to balance freshness and texture. Extended lees aging with regular bâtonnage (lees stirring) contributes to the wine’s creamy structure and complexity, while the use of oak is deliberately restrained so that the terroir-driven minerality and clarity of fruit remain at the forefront.
