Tasting Notes
In the glass, Sassicaia 2021 shows a deep, concentrated ruby color that hints at its intensity and precision. The nose is layered and refined, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar, tobacco, and Mediterranean herbs, followed by more subtle notes of graphite and spice. The palate combines power with poise, offering velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and a core of dark fruit framed by mineral tension and elegant oak influence. The finish is long, complex, and remarkably persistent, with excellent aging potential; while already impressive now, it should continue to develop beautifully over several decades.

Production
Sassicaia is sourced from the stony, well-drained soils of Bolgheri in coastal Tuscany, where the vines benefit from a warm climate tempered by maritime breezes. The 2021 vintage enjoyed highly favorable conditions, allowing for optimal ripeness and balance in the grapes. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, crafted with a focus on structure, freshness, and aromatic finesse.

Food & Serving
This is an exceptional match for fine cuts of red meat, game, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opening young, especially to allow the wine’s layers and tannins to fully open.
