Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour that hints at its concentration and depth. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with dark berries such as blackcurrant and plum lifted by notes of spice, tobacco, and cedar. The palate is structured yet graceful, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, persistent finish. Subtle nuances of chocolate and sweet spice emerge with air, while the wine’s balance and finesse suggest excellent ageing potential over the next 15-20 years and beyond.

Production
Sassicaia 2016 comes from the Bolgheri area of Tuscany, where the coastal climate and well-drained soils help produce fruit with remarkable ripeness and freshness. The 2016 growing season offered moderate temperatures and evenly distributed rainfall, supporting slow, even maturation of the grapes. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured for 24 months in French oak barrels before further bottle ageing.

This is a superb match for premium grilled or roasted meats, especially beef, lamb, and game, as well as rich dishes like braised short ribs or truffle-infused pasta. It is best served at 16-18°C, and decanting for at least 1-2 hours is recommended to allow its aromas and structure to खुल fully.
