Tenuta Paolo Scavino Barolo Ravera 2022 is a distinguished single-vineyard Barolo made from Nebbiolo in the renowned Ravera cru of Novello. It combines the depth and structure expected from this celebrated appellation with the precision, aromatic detail and elegance that define the historic Scavino style. Founded in 1921, the estate is one of the long-standing names of the Barolo region.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a bright ruby-red colour with developing garnet reflections. Its nose is layered and expressive, showing red cherries, wild berries and rose petals alongside notes of liquorice, dried herbs, sweet spices and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with vibrant acidity, firm yet refined tannins and a long, savoury finish. The 2022 vintage offers generous fruit and impressive structure, while the wine’s complexity will continue to unfold with bottle age. It can be enjoyed after careful aeration now, but has the balance and tannic framework to develop gracefully for 15–20 years or more under good cellaring conditions.

Production
Produced from Nebbiolo grown in the Ravera cru near Novello, one of the most highly regarded vineyard sites in the Barolo appellation. The area’s mineral-rich, calcareous marl soils help give the wine both structure and aromatic finesse. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then carefully vinified to preserve the character of the vineyard, followed by maturation in oak before release. The result is a Barolo that balances power, fruit intensity and terroir-driven elegance.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 18°C in a large Burgundy or Barolo glass to allow the wine’s aromas to develop. Decant for one to two hours when drinking it young, particularly with the structured 2022 vintage; older bottles should be handled more gently and decanted only if necessary to remove sediment. Its depth and freshness make it an excellent partner for braised beef, game, roasted lamb, truffle dishes, mushroom-based pasta and mature hard cheeses.

Tenuta Paolo Scavino was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto and remains a family-run estate, today led by Enrico Scavino and his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The family owns around 29 hectares and works with historic Barolo vineyards across several of the region’s most important communes, including Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba and Verduno. With more than six decades of experience devoted to Nebbiolo and cru-specific wines, Scavino has earned a strong reputation for producing Barolo of remarkable character, complexity and age-worthiness.
