Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby-red colour with garnet reflections that will deepen with age. The nose is layered and expressive, revealing red cherries, wild berries and rose petals alongside hints of liquorice, violet, dried herbs and subtle spice. On the palate, it is focused and energetic, with concentrated fruit, lively acidity and firm, finely grained tannins. Notes of cherry, raspberry, anise and earthy spice linger through a long, elegant finish. Although approachable with sufficient aeration, the 2020 Barolo Ravera has the structure to develop beautifully over the next 10–20 years under suitable cellar conditions.

Production
The grapes come from the Ravera cru in Novello, a Barolo area known for producing Nebbiolo of impressive structure, aromatic intensity and freshness. Paolo Scavino farms its vineyards with a strong emphasis on expressing the character of each individual site. The Nebbiolo grapes are carefully harvested at maturity and vinified with a balance of traditional Barolo methods and modern technical precision, before extended maturation that allows the fruit, tannins and oak-derived nuances to integrate. The result is a powerful yet polished wine that clearly reflects its terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C in a large Burgundy or Barolo glass to allow its aromas to open fully. Decant for around one to two hours when enjoying the wine young; older bottles are best decanted carefully, primarily to remove sediment. Its structure and savoury character make it an excellent partner for braised beef, wild boar, roast lamb, truffle dishes, porcini mushrooms and richly flavoured aged cheeses.

Founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto, Tenuta Paolo Scavino is one of the historic names of the Barolo region. The family estate is now led by Enrico Scavino together with his daughters, Enrica and Elisa, and owns approximately 29 hectares of vineyards while also cultivating a number of prestigious historic Barolo sites across the appellation. With holdings in areas including Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Roddi, the estate is renowned for producing precise, complex and elegant wines that express the individual personality of each cru.
