Tenuta Paolo Scavino Barolo Ravera 2018 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Novello’s most respected crus. Combining the power and structure expected from Barolo with remarkable finesse and aromatic detail, it reflects both the distinctive character of the Ravera vineyard and the Scavino family’s long-standing commitment to terroir-driven wines. Founded in 1921, the estate is one of the historic names of the Barolo region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barolo shows a luminous ruby-red colour with developing garnet tones. The nose is classic and layered, offering red cherries, wild berries, rose petals and violet alongside hints of liquorice, spices, dried herbs and subtle earthy nuances. With further aeration, more complex balsamic and mineral notes emerge. The palate is elegant yet firmly structured, with concentrated red fruit, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Savoury spice, liquorice and mineral tones add depth to the long, persistent finish. The 2018 vintage offers both approachability and the structure needed for further development, with excellent ageing potential over the next 10–20 years when properly stored.

Production
Made from Nebbiolo grown in the celebrated Ravera cru in Novello, an area known for producing Barolo with freshness, aromatic precision and firm, age-worthy structure. The vineyard’s marl-rich soils help give the wine its mineral character and balance. Following careful harvesting, the grapes are vinified with the aim of preserving the purity of the fruit and the individual character of the site, before maturation that allows the tannins to integrate and the wine’s complexity to develop.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the bottle time to open. Decanting for around one to two hours is recommended, particularly when serving the wine young, while older bottles may benefit from gentle decanting to remove sediment. Its structure and savoury depth make it an excellent partner for braised beef, game, osso buco, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto and mature hard cheeses.

Tenuta Paolo Scavino was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto and remains a family-run estate led by Enrico Scavino together with his daughters, Enrica and Elisa. The family owns approximately 29 hectares and also works with historic vineyards across several of the Barolo appellation’s most important communes. With a focus on expressing the character of individual crus, the estate combines deep traditional knowledge with modern winemaking techniques, producing Barolo wines renowned for their purity, complexity, elegance and ageing potential.
