Tenuta Paolo Scavino Barolo Prapò 2020 is a distinguished single-vineyard Barolo from one of Piedmont’s historic family estates, founded in Castiglione Falletto in 1921. Made from Nebbiolo, it combines the structure and longevity expected from Barolo with the refined expression of the Prapò cru, offering both depth and remarkable terroir character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barolo shows a luminous ruby-red colour with developing garnet nuances. The nose is expressive and layered, revealing red cherries, wild berries, rose petals and violets, followed by classic notes of liquorice, dried herbs, spice and a subtle earthy complexity. On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet poised, with vibrant acidity, firm Nebbiolo tannins and a long, savoury finish. Its fruit profile is supported by hints of leather, tobacco and mineral freshness, while further bottle ageing should bring greater harmony and aromatic complexity. The 2020 vintage offers excellent potential for medium- to long-term cellaring.

Production
The Prapò vineyard is located in Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for producing structured, age-worthy Barolo from mineral-rich soils. The Nebbiolo grapes are harvested with careful attention to ripeness and selection before being vinified with modern cellar techniques designed to preserve the identity of the site. Maturation allows the wine’s fruit, tannins and savoury complexity to integrate while retaining the precision and elegance associated with Paolo Scavino.

Food & Serving
Enjoy this Barolo with rich, savoury dishes such as braised beef, game, osso buco, truffle-based pasta or mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 18°C, preferably after allowing the bottle to breathe. Decanting for one to two hours is recommended when drinking the wine young; older bottles should be handled gently and decanted only if necessary to remove sediment.

Tenuta Paolo Scavino was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto and remains a family-run estate led by Enrico Scavino and his daughters, Enrica and Elisa. The winery owns approximately 29 hectares of vineyards and works with a further selection of historic Barolo cru sites across the Langhe. With more than six decades of experience focused on Nebbiolo and individual vineyard character, the estate has earned a strong reputation for producing powerful, elegant and highly sought-after Barolo wines.
