Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep, inviting red color in the glass. On the nose, it leans toward ripe red and dark fruit, with a warm Mediterranean character and subtle nuances from its time in barrique. The palate is full-bodied and supple, with good structure and a generous, easy-flowing texture. The native Gaglioppo grape brings freshness and grip, while the 6 months of oak aging adds depth and polish. It has the balance and material to drink well now, while also holding up nicely over the next few years.

Production
Principe Spinelli Rosso 2024 comes from vineyards in Calabria planted on white clay soils, which help give the wine its extra structure and definition. The grapes are hand-harvested, emphasizing careful selection in the vineyard. After vinification, the wine matures for 6 months in barrique, adding complexity and a touch of oak influence without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs well with grilled meats, roasted lamb, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses. It should be served slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, to best show its freshness and balance. Decanting for 20–30 minutes can help open the aromatics, especially in its youth.

Tenuta Iuzzolini was founded in 2004 by Fortunato and Giovanna, who chose to invest in the winemaking future of their native Calabria rather than follow the more common pull toward northern Italy. The estate combines modern cellar technology with a strong respect for local tradition, and its 100 hectares are largely planted with indigenous varieties such as greco bianco, gaglioppo, and magliocco. The winery’s traditional-style building and on-site museum underline its commitment to preserving the region’s long winemaking history while producing wines of real quality.
