Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2000 Vintage Port shows an intense blue-purple to near-black core, signalling its depth and youthfulness. The nose is profoundly aromatic, with graphite, blackberry liqueur, crème de cassis, and smoky nuances rising from the glass. The palate is monumental and layered, combining dense dark fruit with remarkable sweetness, firm ripe tannins, and fresh acidity. It has the kind of structure and extract that promise decades of development, with Robert Parker noting its resemblance to a stellar vintage of Château Latour. Built for the long haul, this magnum should continue to evolve beautifully well into the future.

Production
The fruit comes from Taylor’s own top-class vineyards in the Douro Valley: Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and Quinta do Junco, all classified in the elite Group A category. These estates benefit from very different microclimates, which add complexity, power, and balance to the final wine. Taylor’s uses carefully selected grapes and traditional Port vinification methods to craft a Vintage Port of great intensity and age-worthiness.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts, or after-dinner nuts and dried fruits, though it is equally impressive on its own. Serve at around 16–18°C and, given its structure and sediment, decanting is highly recommended before serving. A magnum format is especially suited to long aging and makes this an outstanding choice for collectors or special celebrations.
