Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a light mahogany-brown hue, signaling both age and elegance. The bouquet is highly layered and refined, with notes of cedar, cigar leaf, citrus peel, marzipan, walnuts, coffee, plums, and warming spices such as black pepper and cardamom. The palate is concentrated and full-bodied, yet exceptionally silky and harmonious. Flavors of coffee, cream toffee, walnuts, and candied orange peel are balanced by vibrant acidity, which gives the wine a surprisingly fresh lift despite its age. The finish is long, persistent, and complex. Ready to enjoy now, it has been bottled at full maturity and is not intended for further aging.

Production
The grapes come from Taylor’s own estates in the Douro Valley, one of Portugal’s most important and historic wine regions, where steep vineyard slopes and schist-rich soils help produce intensely flavored fruit. This 1970 Single Harvest Port was made from Touriga Nacional and then aged for decades in oak casks, allowing it to evolve slowly and develop its deep complexity before bottling.

Food & Serving
This Port pairs especially well with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, strawberries, figs, and almonds. It also makes a lovely after-dinner glass on its own, or even a surprising treat on a warm summer evening. Serve lightly chilled, and decanting is generally unnecessary since it is already fully matured and ready to pour.
