Description

Talbot 2019 is a classic Saint-Julien Bordeaux from one of the Médoc’s most respected estates, offering the kind of structure, polish, and longevity that collectors look for in a Grand Cru Classé. The 2019 vintage brings vivid freshness and refined balance to Talbot’s signature style, making it a compelling example of Left Bank Cabernet-led winemaking with historical pedigree.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Talbot 2019 typically shows a deep garnet colour with youthful purple reflections, hinting at its concentration and ageworthiness. The bouquet is refined and layered, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral and spice notes that unfold with air. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with firm but well-integrated tannins, bright acidity, and a composed core of dark fruit framed by savoury oak, mineral tension, and classic Saint-Julien precision. This is a wine built for the cellar, and while it is approachable with decanting in its youth, it should continue to evolve beautifully over the next 10–20 years, gaining further complexity and softness.

Production
Talbot comes from the Saint-Julien appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravel-rich soils provide excellent drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot ripen with balance and concentration. The 2019 vintage benefited from favorable growing conditions that supported healthy ripening and strong phenolic development. Winemaking at Talbot is traditionally focused on careful parcel selection, temperature-controlled fermentation, and ageing in French oak barrels to preserve freshness, structure, and the estate’s elegant signature.

Food & Serving
Talbot 2019 pairs especially well with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as hard cheeses such as Comté or aged cheddar. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.

Producer
Château Talbot is one of the most famous names in Saint-Julien and has long been regarded as a benchmark estate in the Médoc. Classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, it has earned a strong reputation for consistency, elegance, and ageability. Over the years, Talbot has become known for producing classically styled wines that reflect both the character of the appellation and the estate’s enduring commitment to quality.
