Description

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2013 is one of the house’s most prestigious cuvées, crafted only in exceptional vintages and made exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. A benchmark Blanc de Blancs Champagne, it reflects Taittinger’s long-standing commitment to elegance, precision, and tradition dating back to 1734.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful straw-gold colour with extremely fine, delicate bubbles. The nose is refined and expressive, with notes of white flowers, minerality, ripe pear, and hints of golden raisins. On the palate, it is complex and beautifully composed, balancing mature richness with vibrant freshness. The texture is elegant and polished, with pronounced mineral drive, bright fruit, and a long, focused finish. Thanks to its structure and concentration, it has excellent ageing potential and will continue to develop beautifully over time.

Production
Comtes de Champagne 2013 is made entirely from Chardonnay sourced from some of the finest Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, including Avize, Cramant, and Mesnil-sur-Oger. Only the first press juice is used, and the wine is released only after around 10 years of cellar ageing. Taittinger’s extensive vineyard holdings and historic cellars beneath the former Saint-Nicaise abbey in Reims support a production style centered on quality, consistency, and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs exceptionally well with oysters, scallops, lobster, sashimi, and other refined seafood dishes, as well as poultry in light cream sauces or aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not recommended.

Producer
Champagne Taittinger was founded in 1734 and remains one of Champagne’s most respected houses, known for its Chardonnay-driven style and elegant, finely balanced wines. After a brief period outside family ownership in 2005, the house returned to the Taittinger family’s control, reaffirming its historic identity. Its deep cellars, exceptional vineyard holdings, and dedication to tradition have helped secure its reputation as one of the region’s leading producers.
