Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep amber-gold hue, hinting at long maturation and concentrated character. The nose is complex and refined, with layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate, toasted oak, incense, and a subtle sherry sweetness, all lifted by gentle smoky and herbal notes. The palate is silky and full-bodied, delivering waves of ripe plum, raisin, walnut, baking spice, and bittersweet cocoa, balanced by polished oak and a long, elegant finish. It has excellent aging potential in bottle, preserving its complexity and finesse for years when stored properly.

Production
Yamazaki is distilled at Suntory’s historic Yamazaki Distillery, located in a humid, misty valley on the outskirts of Kyoto—an area long valued for its pure water and ideal maturation conditions. The whisky is crafted from carefully selected malt whiskies matured in a combination of cask types, including sherry and American oak, allowing the final blend to develop depth, structure, and layered aromatic complexity.

Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to open up its finer aromas, Yamazaki 18 Year Old also rewards slow sipping in a tulip glass. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, rich desserts, aged cheeses, or even simply after a fine meal; decanting is not necessary.
