Stellenrust Mothership Chenin Blanc 2024 is the crown jewel of the ArtiSons collection, crafted from exceptionally old bush vines planted in 1964 on granite-rich soils in Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch. It showcases the purity, concentration, and quiet complexity that only venerable vines and careful hands can deliver, making it a standout expression of South African Chenin Blanc.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, polished profile with lifted freshness and the kind of depth that hints at its old-vine origins. Aromas of white peach lead the way, joined by ripe stone fruit and a subtle mineral edge that brings definition and tension. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, with layered stone-fruit flavors balanced by lively, precise acidity and a clean mineral backbone. Extended time on the lees adds texture and complexity, while the old vines give it impressive concentration. It is drinking beautifully now, but has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from 100% old bush vines planted in 1964 on granite soils in the Bottelary Hills, a terroir that naturally lends freshness, mineral drive, and concentration to Chenin Blanc. Harvested with care, the fruit undergoes 6 to 12 hours of skin maceration before fermenting with wild yeasts in 2,000-liter foudres and concrete eggs. The wine then matures for up to 12 months on fine lees in concrete egg, adding depth, texture, and a distinctive sense of place.

Food & Serving
This Chenin Blanc pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, chicken in creamy sauces, and dishes with subtle spice such as Southeast Asian or lightly curried cuisine. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to showcase its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is not essential, but a short time in the glass will help the wine open up and reveal more of its complexity.
