Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, near-black ruby color that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose is layered and aromatic, with blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, tobacco, and subtle accents of spice and vanilla from oak aging. The palate is full-bodied yet beautifully composed, with ripe fruit framed by fresh acidity and finely polished tannins. Silky in texture and highly structured, it finishes long and persistent, with the concentration and balance to drink well now and develop gracefully over many years.

Production
The grapes come from Spottswoode’s own estate vineyards in Napa Valley, where careful vineyard management helps capture the distinct character of the site. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone of the blend, while small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot add lift, complexity, and nuance. After harvest and fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels to enhance its structure and deepen its aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for prime rib, grilled ribeye, lamb, braised short ribs, or hearty dishes with mushrooms and herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open up.
