Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that signals concentration and richness. The nose opens with layers of blackcurrant, blueberry, cedar, tobacco, and a hint of spice, unfolding with air into a more nuanced and elegant bouquet. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and seamless, with ripe dark fruit framed by fine tannins and lively acidity. French oak adds subtle warmth and complexity without overpowering the fruit, and the finish is long, refined, and persistent. Thanks to its balance and structure, this 2017 Magnum has excellent aging potential and will reward extended cellaring.

This estate wine comes from Spottswoode’s organically certified vineyards in Napa Valley, an area known for producing Cabernet Sauvignon with richness, freshness, and age-worthy structure. The blend is led by 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, adding aromatic lift and additional depth. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 60% of them new, which helped build texture, spice, and complexity while preserving the wine’s elegant core.

Food & Serving
This Cabernet Sauvignon is a natural partner for classic dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or venison, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to let the wine fully open and show its layered aromas and silky tannins.
