Tasting Notes
Deep, concentrated ruby in the glass, Solaia 2016 opens with an expressive nose of blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, dark cherry, and subtle herbal notes, all wrapped in refined French oak. On the palate it is powerful yet beautifully composed, with Cabernet Sauvignon at the core, lifted by the freshness and structure of Sangiovese and the aromatic nuance of Cabernet Franc. The finish is long, polished, and layered, with firm tannins and excellent balance. While already impressive, this is a wine built for long aging and will continue to evolve gracefully for decades under ideal cellaring conditions.

Production
Solaia comes from the best part of the Tignanello vineyard, a south-west facing site of around 20 hectares in the heart of Tuscany. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted upon arrival at the winery before being moved by gravity into conical fermentation tanks. Fermentation is managed to preserve the ideal balance between tannin structure and fruit intensity, after which the wine matures for approximately 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Food & Serving
Best served with premium cuts of beef, grilled lamb, roast game, or rich Tuscan-inspired dishes with herbs and earthy flavors. Serve at around 16–18°C and, given its structure and depth, decanting for several hours is recommended if enjoying the wine young.
