Shaya, Vidilla Verdejo Ecológico 2024 White

Shaya Vidilla Verdejo Ecológico 2024 is a fresh, organically farmed white wine from Rueda, one of Spain’s leading regions for vibrant Verdejo. Its combination of sandy, stone-covered vineyards and naturally expressive fruit gives the wine both appealing freshness and a fine, rounded structure. Verdejo is the signature white grape of Rueda, with a long-standing tradition in the region.

Tasting Notes
The wine has an attractive straw-yellow colour with delicate greenish highlights. On the nose, it combines aromatic notes of fennel and freshly cut grass with generous tropical fruit, particularly pineapple and mango. The palate is fresh and well balanced, with a fine, lightly textured structure. Rounded, fruity flavours are supported by characteristic Verdejo acidity, leading to a clean and refreshing finish. It is best enjoyed young, when its bright fruit and lively freshness are at their most expressive, though it should remain appealing over the next year or two when stored properly.

Production
Made from Verdejo grapes grown in certified organic vineyards in the southeastern part of the Rueda appellation, in the province of Segovia. The vines are planted on sandy soils covered with small stones, a characteristic setting that helps provide good drainage while contributing to the wine’s freshness and definition. The 2024 vintage is crafted to preserve the variety’s vivid fruit, herbal aromas and refreshing acidity; specific harvesting and vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This versatile Verdejo is a natural match for grilled prawns, mussels, ceviche, sushi, fresh salads and light poultry dishes. It also pairs well with goat’s cheese and vegetable-based dishes. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving or allow the wine a few minutes in the glass to reveal its aromatic character.
