Description
Sept Cuvée de Soleil 2022 is a vibrant Lebanese red that brings together Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon in a sun-soaked expression of the Bekaa Valley. Crafted by Sept, one of Lebanon’s most exciting new-wave producers, this cuvée balances Mediterranean ripeness with a remarkably fresh, elegant profile. It offers an inviting glimpse into the country’s modern wine renaissance while still honoring its ancient winemaking roots.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Cuvée de Soleil 2022 shows a bright ruby to deep garnet hue with youthful violet reflections along the rim. The nose opens with ripe red cherries, wild strawberries and plum compote, layered with notes of dried herbs, tobacco leaf, sweet spice and a whisper of cedar.
On the palate, this is medium to full-bodied yet surprisingly lively, with juicy red and black fruit at the core—think cherry, red currant and blackberry—framed by fine, chalky tannins. Hints of Mediterranean garrigue, black tea, and subtle vanilla from oak (if used) add complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long, fresh and slightly savory, making it highly drinkable now. While approachable in its youth, this vintage has the structure and acidity to evolve gracefully over the next 5–7 years, gaining more tertiary notes of leather, dried fig and spice with time in bottle.
Production
Sourced from sun-drenched vineyards in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, Cuvée de Soleil reflects a high-altitude terroir where warm days and cool nights preserve acidity and aromatic purity. The vines, rooted in limestone- and clay-rich soils, naturally limit yields and concentrate flavor. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to ensure careful selection in the vineyard. In the cellar, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon are vinified with a light touch—gentle extraction, temperature-controlled fermentation and a focus on preserving fruit and terroir expression. The wine may be aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral or lightly-toasted oak, allowing structure and subtle complexity to develop while keeping the profile fresh and lifted.
Food & Serving
Cuvée de Soleil 2022 is a versatile red that pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, spiced beef skewers, roasted poultry, hearty vegetable dishes and Levantine mezze such as lamb kibbeh, muhammara and roasted eggplant. It also stands up well to tomato-based pastas, charcuterie and semi-firm cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its balance of fruit and structure. A short decant of 30–45 minutes will help the aromatics open and soften the tannins, especially if enjoyed in its first few years.
