Sena, Aconcagua Valley 2021

Seña 2021 is a distinguished red wine from Chile’s Aconcagua Valley and one of the country’s pioneering iconic wines. Created as a collaboration between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, it expresses Chile’s potential through a refined blend of Bordeaux varieties, combining vibrant fruit, polished tannins and carefully integrated oak.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with attractive violet nuances. On the nose, it reveals expressive aromas of strawberry and blackcurrant alongside clove, warm spices and cocoa. On the palate, Seña 2021 is juicy and beautifully balanced, with supple tannins providing structure without overpowering the fruit. The oak adds depth and spice while allowing the wine’s freshness and varietal character to remain at the forefront. With its balance and concentration, the wine should develop further in bottle over the coming years.

Production
Sourced from the Aconcagua Valley, Seña is made with a blend of Bordeaux grape varieties selected to reflect the character and potential of Chilean terroir. The wine is matured for 22 months, with 90% aged in French oak barrels—70% of them new—and the remaining 10% in large foudres. Seña follows sustainable winemaking practices guided by organic and biodynamic principles.

Food & Serving
Serve Seña 2021 at approximately 16–18°C. It pairs particularly well with roast beef, grilled lamb, venison, hearty stews and richly flavoured mushroom dishes. Decanting for around 30–60 minutes is recommended to open up its fruit, spice and cocoa notes, especially when enjoyed young.

Seña was founded in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, who shared the ambition of creating a wine capable of demonstrating Chile’s full potential. Located in the Aconcagua Valley, the estate is widely regarded as Chile’s first iconic wine. The name Seña means “sign” or “signature”, reflecting the founders’ shared passion for excellence and the bond between their two families. Today, the winery continues to pursue sustainable production based on organic and biodynamic principles.
