Seña 2020 is an iconic Chilean red from the Aconcagua Valley, created to demonstrate the country’s potential for producing world-class, age-worthy wines. Founded in 1995 as a collaboration between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, Seña remains a distinctive Bordeaux-style blend shaped by Chilean terroir and a commitment to sustainable viticulture.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep garnet-red colour with vivid violet highlights. Its aromatic profile combines red fruits and floral notes of violet with subtle hints of dill, rosemary and sweet spices. On the palate, Seña 2020 is fresh and juicy, supported by elegant, refined tannins and a well-balanced structure. The 22 months of maturation contribute depth and polish without overshadowing the wine’s lively fruit character. It can be enjoyed now with decanting, while its concentration and tannin structure suggest excellent potential for further development in the bottle.

Production
Produced in Chile’s Aconcagua Valley, Seña is a blend of different Bordeaux grape varieties, although the precise composition is not specified here. The estate follows organic and biodynamic principles as part of its sustainable approach to vineyard management. The 2020 vintage matured for 22 months, with 90% of the wine aged in French oak barrels—78% of them new—and the remaining 10% in large foudres.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Seña 2020 pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, venison, and richly flavoured mushroom dishes. Decant for around 1–2 hours before serving to allow its aromatic complexity and elegant tannins to open; older bottles may require gentler handling and a shorter decant.

Seña was established in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, who shared the ambition of creating a Chilean wine with international stature. Located in the Aconcagua Valley, the estate is regarded as the source of Chile’s first iconic wine and has become an important reference point for premium Chilean Bordeaux-style blends. The name Seña means “sign” or “signature”, reflecting the founders’ shared passion and the distinctive identity of the wine.
