Sena, Aconcagua Valley 2020

Seña 2020 is a refined Chilean icon from the Aconcagua Valley, created to demonstrate the country’s ability to produce world-class, age-worthy red wine. Founded in 1995 as a collaboration between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, Seña combines the character of Chilean terroir with the elegance of a Bordeaux-inspired blend and a distinctly modern approach to sustainable viticulture.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep garnet-red colour with attractive violet hues. Its aromatic profile is expressive and complex, offering red fruits alongside delicate notes of violets, dill, rosemary and sweet spices. On the palate, Seña 2020 is fresh, juicy and beautifully balanced, with elegant tannins that provide structure without heaviness. The finish is refined and persistent, suggesting excellent development potential with further bottle age. It can be enjoyed now after careful decanting, but should continue to evolve over the coming years.

Production
Seña is produced in the Aconcagua Valley, where the combination of Chile’s dry climate and varied vineyard conditions supports healthy, concentrated fruit while preserving freshness. The estate follows sustainable viticulture, working according to organic and biodynamic principles. The wine is a blend of several Bordeaux grape varieties and was matured for 22 months, with 90% aged in French oak barrels—78% of them new—and the remaining 10% in large foudres.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C, ideally after decanting for 30–60 minutes to allow its aromatic complexity and supple structure to unfold. Its freshness and elegant tannins make it a natural match for roast lamb, grilled or roasted beef, venison, herb-crusted dishes and richly flavoured mushroom preparations.

Seña was established in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, who shared the ambition of creating a wine capable of expressing Chile’s full potential. Located in the Aconcagua Valley, the estate is regarded as Chile’s first iconic wine project and has become an important reference point for premium Chilean Bordeaux-style blends. The name Seña means “sign” or “signature”, reflecting the founders’ shared commitment to excellence and their close collaboration.
