Description
Seguin-Manuel’s Bourgogne Rouge 2023 is a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir that offers an inviting mix of juicy fruit, Burgundian charm, and refined structure. Sourced from respected vineyards in Pommard, Chorey-lès-Beaune, and Volnay, it delivers an especially generous style of Bourgogne Rouge with a touch of historic pedigree behind it.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby-red color with an elegant, lightly translucent depth typical of Pinot Noir. The nose is lifted and floral, with notes of cherry, sun-ripened strawberry, rose petal, fresh herbs, and a subtle forest-floor character.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and supple, with silky tannins, bright fruit, and a finely tuned acidity that keeps everything fresh and poised. A discreet hint of oak sits quietly in the background, adding just enough texture without overshadowing the wine’s fruit-driven core. Enjoy now for its immediate charm, though it should hold nicely over the next few years.
Production
The fruit comes from several Côte de Beaune communes, including Pommard, Chorey-lès-Beaune, and Volnay, bringing both richness and finesse to the blend. Seguin-Manuel farms its vineyards without chemical sprays and has been certified organic since the 2015 vintage. The grapes are handled with care, double-sorted at the winery, then allowed to undergo spontaneous fermentation over around 14 days before ageing for 10 months in a mix of oak barrels and stainless steel to balance fruit purity, freshness, and subtle oak influence.
Food & Serving
This Bourgogne Rouge is a natural match for roast poultry, mushrooms, sweetbreads, and feathered game, and it shines especially well with classic Coq au Vin Rouge. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14–16°C, and consider a short decant of 20–30 minutes if you want to let the aromatics open up a little further.
Producer
Seguin-Manuel is a historic Burgundy domaine founded in 1824 and based in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Today it farms around 8 hectares across some of the region’s most respected appellations, including Pommard, Vosne-Romanée, and Meursault. Known for its organic viticulture and careful cellar work, the estate has built a strong reputation for wines that combine authenticity, elegance, and precision.
