Screaming Eagle The Flight 2021 is a refined, highly collectible Napa Valley red from one of California’s most legendary estates. Often seen as the more elegant, Cabernet Franc-led expression of Screaming Eagle, it combines precision, aromatic complexity, and superb aging potential in a style that shows a more nuanced side of Oakville.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, The Flight 2021 shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is lifted and expressive, with violets, black cherry, cassis, blueberry, and ripe plum layered over graphite, cedar, dried herbs, dark chocolate, and subtle spice from the oak. The palate is silky and focused, with remarkable finesse and fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity and mineral tension carry the wine to a long, elegant finish, while the balance and concentration suggest a very long life ahead. It can certainly be enjoyed after some years in bottle, but will continue to evolve beautifully for the next 20–30 years under proper cellaring.

Production
The grapes come from Screaming Eagle’s own vineyard parcels in the heart of Oakville, Napa Valley, where gravelly soils and a warm climate provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Each parcel is harvested and vinified separately, allowing the final blend to be composed with exceptional precision. The wine is then aged for around 20 months in new French oak barrels.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for dry-aged beef, roasted duck, lamb with herbs, truffle dishes, or richly flavoured mushroom-based plates. Serve at 16–18°C and, if possible, decant for 1–2 hours to let the aromatics and texture fully open up.
