Description

Schloss Reinhartshausen Erbacher Siegelsberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 2002 is a rare, intensely concentrated sweet wine from one of the Rheingau’s celebrated vineyard sites. Presented as “ex Château 2018”, it has benefited from extended cellar maturation, allowing its fruit, sweetness and acidity to develop remarkable complexity and harmony.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep golden colour, reflecting its age and concentration. Its complex bouquet combines honey, ripe peach and apricot with bright citrus nuances, creating an inviting balance between richness and freshness. On the palate, it is luscious and intensely sweet, yet supported by a lively Riesling acidity that keeps the wine focused rather than heavy. The finish is long, layered and persistent, with lingering notes of stone fruit, citrus and honey. Already mature and highly expressive, it should continue to evolve gracefully when stored under suitable cellar conditions.

Production
Produced from Riesling grapes from the Erbacher Siegelsberg vineyard in the Rheingau, this Trockenbeerenauslese represents one of Germany’s highest levels of naturally concentrated Prädikatswein. The grapes are selected berry by berry at very advanced ripeness, typically after noble rot has concentrated their sugars, aromas and flavours. Such fruit is handled gently and fermented with care to preserve its balance of sweetness, acidity and intense varietal character, followed by extended maturation that contributes to the wine’s depth and complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its concentrated sweetness and refreshing acidity make it an excellent partner for fruit-based desserts, apricot tart, crème brûlée, cheesecake and blue cheese. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a luxurious aperitif or contemplative after-dinner wine. Decanting is generally not essential, although a brief airing in a small carafe can help reveal its full aromatic range; pour carefully if sediment has developed.

Producer
Schloss Reinhartshausen is a historic estate in Erbach, in the heart of Germany’s Rheingau, a region renowned for its outstanding Riesling wines. The estate’s location among the great vineyards of the Rheingau places it in a tradition defined by precision, longevity and the expressive relationship between river-influenced sites and the Riesling grape. This mature Erbacher Siegelsberg Trockenbeerenauslese showcases the estate’s ability to produce exceptionally rare, cellar-worthy sweet wines.
