Santa Maria La Palma Akènta Millesimato 2023 is a lively Sardinian sparkling wine made from carefully selected Vermentino di Sardegna DOC grapes, handpicked in the northwestern coast of Alghero within the Porto Conte Natural Park. Extra dry and elegantly styled, it captures the bright, sea-kissed character that has made Vermentino one of Sardinia’s most beloved white varieties. Its name, inspired by the Sardinian expression “A kent’annos,” reflects the wine’s celebratory spirit and hopeful tradition.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Akènta shows a brilliant pale straw-yellow color with subtle green highlights and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and inviting, offering white and yellow flowers, fresh fruit, and a delicate hint of bread crust from fermentation. On the palate it is fresh, full-bodied, and distinctly savory, with a pleasant saline edge that speaks of its coastal origin. The finish is fruit-driven and clean, with enough structure and brightness to make it enjoyable now while still retaining its charm over the next few years.

Production
Akènta Millesimato 2023 is produced from a careful selection of Vermentino di Sardegna DOC grapes grown in vineyards exposed to generous sun yet cooled by Mediterranean sea breezes, giving the wine its unmistakable maritime identity. The grapes are hand-harvested in Alghero, in the Porto Conte area of northwestern Sardinia, and the wine is made using the Charmat method, where a secondary fermentation preserves the grape’s aromatic freshness and creates its fine, lasting bubbles.

Food & Serving
This sparkling wine is a natural match for oysters, shellfish, sushi, grilled prawns, light seafood pasta, and appetisers with fresh herbs or mild cheeses. Serve well chilled at 6–8°C to keep its freshness and finesse. Decanting is not necessary.
