Santa Maria La Palma’s Akènta Cuvée 71 2025 is a beautifully expressive Sardinian white that showcases the island’s signature Vermentino at its most aromatic and vibrant. Sourced from carefully selected vineyards and crafted to capture both sunshine and sea breeze, it offers the kind of balance and character that makes Sardinia’s whites so distinctive.

Tasting Notes
Bright and inviting in the glass, this white wine opens with a fragrant nose of fresh flowers, sun-ripened fruit, and a subtle hint of coastal minerality. On the palate it is clean, juicy, and generous, with flavors of ripe pear, apple, and a touch of tropical fruit lifted by fresh acidity and a delicate grapefruit-bitter edge. Lagering on the lees gives the wine added breadth and a rounded texture, while its lively freshness and lightly spicy, saline finish keep it elegant and engaging. It is approachable now, but has enough structure and acidity to hold its charm over the short to medium term.

Production
For this cuvée, Santa Maria La Palma selected their best Vermentino grapes from top vineyard sites in Sardinia, including limestone soils with sea views. The vines benefit from intense Mediterranean sunshine and cooling maritime breezes, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly while preserving freshness. The grapes are harvested only when fully ripe and at a golden-yellow stage, then the wine is aged on the lees to build texture and roundness.

Food & Serving
A superb aperitif, Akènta Cuvée 71 also shines with raw or poached fish, shellfish, and mussels. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and there is no need to decant.
