Santa Barbara’s Le Vaglie is a refined Verdicchio that captures the character of the Castelli di Jesi Classico zone with clarity, freshness, and personality. First created in 1992 as a modern interpretation of a historic Marche grape, it has become known not only for its bright, expressive style but also for its artistic bottle presentation, which has made it something of a collector’s favorite.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Le Vaglie shows a clear straw-yellow color with subtle golden reflections. The nose is intensely aromatic, with floral and citrus notes lifted by hints of white tea, apricot, and candied lemon. On the palate, it is fresh and agile, with a fine balance between structure and vibrancy. The finish is distinctly almond-like, supported by delicate vegetal and herbal nuances that add length and a pleasantly savory edge. Best enjoyed young for its crisp aromatics, though it can also gain extra complexity with a short period of bottle aging.

Production
The grapes come from hillside vineyards in the Castelli di Jesi Classico area of Marche, at around 250 to 260 meters above sea level, with northeast and southeast exposures that encourage even ripening and a well-defined aromatic profile. The sandy tuff-rich soils contribute to the wine’s precision, freshness, and lively, savory character. Harvest is carried out mechanically, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel at 10–12°C and a period of stainless-steel aging to preserve purity, texture, and aromatic intensity before bottling in a protected environment.

Food & Serving
Le Vaglie is a versatile food wine, especially good with seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, risotto, light pasta dishes, and vegetable-based recipes. It also works well with white meats and fresh cheeses. Serve chilled at 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary.

The Le Vaglie label, launched in 1992, reflects the estate’s desire to break with convention while honoring Verdicchio’s long-standing heritage.
