San Marzano, Puglia Talò Verdeca 2024 White

San Marzano Talò Verdeca 2024 is an expressive white wine from Puglia, made from Verdeca, a traditional grape variety of southern Italy. Its combination of floral freshness, mineral character and subtle French oak influence gives it a distinctive profile that is both elegant and pleasantly textured.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright straw-gold colour with delicate golden highlights. On the nose, it reveals inviting aromas of white flowers and a gentle note of vanilla from its oak maturation. Fresh and mineral-driven on the palate, it offers a pleasing balance between lively acidity and soft, rounded texture. The finish is persistent, clean and subtly aromatic. It is ready to enjoy now, while its structure and oak influence should allow it to develop gracefully over the next couple of years when properly stored.

Production
Verdeca is grown in the sun-drenched landscape of Puglia, between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, where vineyards and olive groves thrive in reddish soils under a Mediterranean climate. The vines face challenging conditions, including drought, occasional frost and sirocco winds, which contribute to concentrated and characterful fruit. After a short 6–8-hour cold skin maceration, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels. The wine is then matured in the same type of barrels for three months, with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for seafood, shellfish and poached fish served with light sauces, this Verdeca also works well with delicate pasta dishes, grilled prawns and fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. Decanting is not necessary, although a few minutes in the glass will allow its floral and vanilla notes to open up.
