Rocca di Frassinello Ornello is a polished Maremma Toscana red that brings together the elegance of Sangiovese with the structure and depth of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Born from the meeting of French and Italian winemaking expertise, it reflects a modern Tuscan style with a distinct sense of place and a reputation for refined, approachable character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red color. The nose opens with balsamic notes and hints of roasted coffee, giving the wine an expressive and inviting aromatic profile. On the palate, Ornello is layered and supple, with impressions of undergrowth, ripe dark fruit, and very soft, velvety tannins. The finish is smooth and balanced, suggesting a wine that can be enjoyed now for its freshness and finesse, while still having enough structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
Produced in the Maremma area of Tuscany, Ornello comes from a terroir shaped by Mediterranean influences, warmth, and the varied soils of coastal Tuscany. The blend is dominated by Sangiovese, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, and the wine is aged for 10 months in oak barrels followed by 6 months in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red for roasted meats, grilled lamb, beef, game dishes, and rich mushroom-based pasta. It also works well with aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for about 30–60 minutes is recommended to help the aromatic complexity open up.

Rocca di Frassinello was born from a landmark collaboration between Baron de Rothschild-Lafite and Paolo Panerai’s Castellare di Castellina, combining French expertise with Tuscan tradition. The estate has become an important name in Maremma, known for producing refined, modern wines that showcase the region’s potential and craftsmanship.
