Rivera’s Triusco Primitivo di Manduria 2022 is a polished take on one of Southern Italy’s most characterful red wines. Made from 100% Primitivo and matured for 14 months in used French oak, it balances generous fruit with a refined, structured style that reflects Rivera’s reputation for elegance and precision.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows deep, ripe color and an inviting intensity. The nose is layered with dark berries, plum, and warm spice, supported by subtle oak notes that add complexity without overpowering the fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and plush, with concentrated blackberry and black cherry flavors, hints of licorice, cocoa, and sweet spice, and a smooth, well-framed finish. The oak ageing brings added texture and a touch of savory depth, while the wine’s natural richness is kept in check by a clean, balanced structure. It should drink beautifully now and can develop further complexity over the next few years.

Production
This wine comes from Manduria in Puglia, one of the key areas for Primitivo, where warm southern Italian sunshine helps produce ripe, expressive fruit. Rivera is known for working with carefully selected vineyards and for preserving freshness and balance in a region often associated with power and ripeness. The wine is made entirely from Primitivo and aged for 14 months in used French oak, allowing the fruit to remain at the forefront while building structure and spice.

Food & Serving
Ideal with grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, richly sauced pasta, or mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out the wine’s depth and aromatic complexity. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to open up the fruit and soften the tannins.

Rivera is one of the leading estates in Puglia, run for decades by the de Corato family. Based in the DOCG Castel del Monte area north of Bari, the winery has built a strong reputation for elegant, well-structured wines made from both local and international varieties. Rivera is particularly respected for its ability to combine regional character with finesse, and it remains one of the benchmark producers in Apulia.
