Rivera’s Puer Apuliae Nero di Troia Riserva 2017 is a refined expression of one of Puglia’s most distinctive native grapes, grown in the prestigious Castel del Monte DOCG. Crafted by the historic de Corato family, it combines structure, depth, and elegance in a style that has helped make Rivera one of the benchmark producers of northern Puglia.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated color that hints at its intensity and reserve aging. The nose is beautifully layered and complex, with ripe dark fruit, spice, and subtle oak notes unfolding over time. On the palate, the wine balances power with finesse: generous fruit, firm structure, and a polished, elegant texture. The finish is long and expressive, and thanks to its balance and concentration, it has excellent aging potential.

Production
The grapes come from Tafuri, Rivera’s oldest vineyard, in the Castel del Monte DOCG area of northern Puglia, where hillside cooling and the Adriatic Sea help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The wine is aged for 14 months in French barriques, which adds depth, spice, and a refined frame without overpowering the character of Nero di Troia.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, braised beef, game, grilled steaks, and rich pasta dishes with meat sauces. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for about an hour is recommended to allow the wine’s layers to open fully.
