Production
Rieussec lies in the heart of Sauternes, where morning mists from the Ciron and Garonne rivers encourage the development of noble rot, or Botrytis cinerea. The vineyard’s gravelly, sandy-clay soils help produce grapes with both ripeness and freshness, while successive selective pickings ensure only perfectly concentrated berries are harvested. The wine is vinified carefully to preserve aromatic intensity, then matured in oak barrels to build complexity and texture.

This wine is a classic match for foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, tarte Tatin, or simply served on its own as a contemplative finish to a meal. It is best enjoyed slightly chilled, around 8–10°C, and while decanting is usually not essential, a gentle aeration can be beneficial for older bottles or if the wine seems tightly wound on opening.
