Ridge Vineyards’ Geyserville is one of California’s most iconic Zinfandels, consistently earning top-tier ratings year after year. First made in 1966, it draws on some of the oldest vines Ridge works with, with select parcels now reaching up to 130 years of age. The 2022 vintage stays true to the classic Geyserville style: richly fruited, beautifully balanced, and layered with the kind of depth that has made this wine a benchmark for the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Geyserville 2022 shows a deep dark ruby color. The nose is expressive and complex, offering dark cherries, spice, cola, mint, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, dark fruit takes the lead, followed by pomegranate, rose petals, cocoa, and a faint smoky edge that carries into a long finish. It has the concentration to age well, while already showing the poise and harmony that make it so compelling now.

Production
The wine comes from Geyserville Vineyard in California, where some parcels are planted with very old vines, among the oldest in Ridge’s cellar. The blend is dominated by Zinfandel, with Carignan, Petite Sirah, and small amounts of Alicante Bouschet contributing structure and complexity. Winemaker Eric Baugher ages the wine for 13 months in American oak, keeping new barrels to around 10% so the fruit remains front and center.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile, food-friendly red that pairs especially well with grilled meats, barbecue, braised short ribs, roast lamb, and hearty Mediterranean dishes. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses and dishes with a touch of spice. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 30–60 minutes if you want to open up the aromatics and soften the wine’s youthful edge.
