Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful straw-yellow color that hints at both ripeness and freshness. The nose is inviting and layered, with citrus, pineapple, melon, honeysuckle, and a subtle touch of vanilla adding warmth and lift. On the palate, this Chardonnay is generous and full-bodied, yet finely balanced by bright acidity. Flavors of citrus, apple, and pear are complemented by nuanced notes of crushed stone and vanilla on the finish. It has the structure to develop nicely over the next few years, gaining additional complexity while retaining its vibrant core.

Production
The wine comes from Monte Bello Vineyard in California, a site long associated with Ridge’s most iconic bottlings. The fruit is hand-harvested, and winemaker Eric Baugher presses the clusters whole, with no destemming, to preserve purity and texture. After fermentation, the wine matures for 14 months in American oak barrels, including 10% new oak, which adds subtle spice and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

This Chardonnay is a fine match for roasted chicken, grilled lobster, creamy seafood dishes, roast turkey, or rich pasta with mushrooms and butter sauce. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider a short decant if you want to open up its aromatic depth, though it is also very enjoyable straight from the bottle.
