Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow color with a lively, natural look. The nose opens with citrus aromas, joined by gentle sweet spice and a subtle earthiness that reflects the Timorasso grape and its mineral-driven terroir. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and harmonious, with a clean structure and a straightforward yet engaging profile. The short skin contact adds a touch of texture and aromatic depth, while the wine’s unfiltered style preserves its expressive energy. It should drink well now and may develop additional nuance over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Costa Vescovato in the heart of Colli Tortonesi, where the Ricci family has worked the vineyards since 1929. The vines grow at around 300 meters above sea level in soils rich in Tortonian marl, a geological makeup that lends the wine its signature tension, definition, and sense of place. Vinification is traditional and minimal-intervention: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, three days of skin maceration in stainless steel with no temperature control, followed by ten months of aging in tank. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, preserving its aromatic integrity and natural expression.

Food & Serving
Ricci Derhona 2023 pairs beautifully with seafood, roasted white meats, vegetable risotto, and dishes with aromatic herbs or delicate sauces. Serve it lightly chilled, ideally around 10-12°C, and decanting is optional but can help the wine open up if served young.
