Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour with mature garnet tones, hinting at its evolution in bottle. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe black fruit, warm spice, tobacco, vanilla, and subtle notes of cocoa and earth. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with plush Merlot fruit supported by polished tannins and a beautifully balanced structure. Long and elegant on the finish, it leaves impressions of dark berries, spice, vanilla, and chocolate. This is a wine with excellent ageing potential in the right cellar, though it is already offering considerable complexity and harmony.

Made in Tuscany from carefully selected 100% Merlot grapes, Casalferro reflects the region’s ability to produce powerful yet refined wines. The grapes were vinified to preserve purity of fruit and structure, then matured in oak barrels to deepen complexity, soften tannins, and add layers of spice and vanilla.

This wine is an excellent match for red meats, roast game, braised dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve it at 16-18°C, and if opening now, decant for around 30-60 minutes to help the aromas unfold and the texture become even more seamless.
