Reichsrat von Buhl’s Deidesheimer Kieselberg Riesling Auslese 1946 is a rare, beautifully mature wine from one of the Pfalz’s most respected estates. Made from carefully selected, fully ripe grapes harvested by hand, it captures the elegance and depth that have long made Riesling one of Germany’s great strengths.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden hue that speaks to its long bottle aging. The bouquet is layered and expressive, offering ripe peach, apricot, and honey, with the kind of mellow complexity only time can bring. The palate is rich and fruit-driven, yet still lively, with sweetness and acidity held in graceful balance. The finish is long, smooth, and satisfying, and while it is fully ready to enjoy now, its mature character gives it a timeless appeal rather than a need for further cellaring.

Production
This Auslese comes from the Kieselberg vineyard in Deidesheim, a prized site in the Pfalz known for producing finely structured Riesling with brightness and depth. The grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, with only the best fruit selected for this style, and the wine was then vinified with care before spending decades evolving in bottle.

Food & Serving
Best served slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, this wine pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, or a selection of mild to medium-aged cheeses. There is no need to decant unless you wish to gently open up its aromatics just before serving.
