Realm Farella 2019

Realm Farella 2019 is a site-driven Napa Cabernet from Coombsville AVA, showcasing the cooler, more mineral side of the valley. As a single-vineyard wine from the Farella estate, it combines Cabernet Sauvignon with a first-ever touch of Merlot in this cuvée, adding a little extra flesh and dimension to the blend.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet color that hints at the wine’s concentration and depth. The nose opens with baked plums, ripe blackberries, and cassis pastilles, layered with notes of black olive, lavender, cinnamon, and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is full-bodied and highly structured, with ripe, grainy tannins and a vivid line of freshness that keeps the wine focused and energetic. Its long finish suggests excellent aging potential, with enough backbone and balance to evolve gracefully over the coming years.

Production
Farella comes from Coombsville in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley, an area known for its cooler temperatures and volcanic soils that help preserve freshness and complexity. The key fruit is sourced primarily from the elevated “rockpile” block, where rocky soils and strong sun exposure contribute to concentration, structure, and intensity. The 2019 blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, marking the first time Merlot has been included in this cuvée.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, braised short ribs, or dishes featuring mushrooms and charred vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C for the best expression, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
