Sourced from the Secondine area at the foot of the Tanaro River valley, it captures the elegance, depth, and fine tannic texture that have made this part of Piedmont so highly regarded for generations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barbaresco is expected to show the translucent garnet hues typical of Nebbiolo, with a bright, luminous core and graceful evolution in the rim over time. The nose should be layered and precise, unfolding with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, dried herbs, and subtle earthy and spicy nuances. On the palate, Prunotto’s interpretation of Secondine is all about finesse: elegant, structured, and deeply expressive, with round, velvety tannins and a long, poised finish. The wine has the balance and complexity to develop beautifully in bottle, gaining further depth and tertiary notes with cellaring.

Production
Secondine is one of the most important historical areas in Barbaresco, located in the production zone of Pajé and close to the Tanaro River valley. The mulberry-rich, clay-limestone soils contribute to the site’s natural suitability for Nebbiolo, helping to shape a wine with both structure and elegance. Prunotto’s approach aims to bring out the vineyard’s character through careful harvesting and traditional, terroir-focused vinification.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with braised veal, roast duck, porcini mushroom dishes, truffle pasta, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to open fully.
