The nose is intense and layered: black cherry and dark plum are wrapped in notes of leather, dried rose petals, clove, anise, menthol and licorice, with a stony, gravelly undertone that adds a distinct sense of place. On the palate, this is powerful yet finely etched, with a core of dark fruit—black cherry, wild berries and plum—supported by firm, ripe tannins and a lively, mouthwatering acidity. Savory nuances of tobacco, cured leather, spice box and a touch of balsamic complexity unfold with air, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by mineral grip and subtle smokiness. Production
Rabajà is one of Barbaresco’s most prized hillside crus, sitting on a south to south‑west exposure with calcareous clay and marl soils that give Nebbiolo both power and precision. The fruit for the Riserva is hand‑harvested from older vines, with strict selection in the vineyard and again at the winery to ensure only the best clusters make it into the final blend. After a traditional fermentation with extended maceration on the skins to extract color, tannin and aromatics, the wine is aged in large neutral oak botti, followed by additional time in bottle before release. This classic, low‑intervention approach allows the character of Rabajà’s terroir and the 2020 vintage to shine through with clarity and authenticity.

This Barbaresco is a natural partner for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef, osso buco, game birds, lamb shank, truffle risotto, wild mushroom ragù and aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or mature Pecorino. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) in large Burgundy or Nebbiolo stems to let the aromatics fully bloom. In its youth, decanting for 2–3 hours is strongly recommended to soften the tannins and let the layers of fruit, spice and minerality unfurl; with more bottle age, a gentle 30–60 minute decant will be sufficient to remove any sediment and open the bouquet.
