A compelling magnum from the exceptional 2021 vintage, the Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco combines Nebbiolo’s signature structure with remarkable depth and energy. Rated 95+ points by Wine Advocate, it is a classic, age-worthy Barbaresco with the concentration and complexity to reward both collectors and enthusiasts. Bottled in April 2024, this vintage is already showing the promise of a benchmark year often compared with 2016.

Tasting Notes
The wine has a medium-rich ruby appearance, developing gradually toward garnet with age. Its expressive nose reveals ripe black fruit, delicate spices and a subtle hint of nutmeg, supported by the floral and earthy nuances typical of Nebbiolo. On the palate, it is energetic and finely balanced, with impressive concentration without feeling heavy. Chalky, polished tannins provide structure while remaining precise and free from bitterness, leading to a long, vibrant finish. This is a youthful Barbaresco with excellent cellaring potential—enjoyable now with decanting, but capable of developing greater complexity over the next 10–20 years under suitable conditions.

Production
Produced from Nebbiolo grown in the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, this wine reflects the region’s rolling hills, limestone-rich soils and continental climate, which help give Nebbiolo both perfume and firm structure. Produttori del Barbaresco works with grapes from its member growers across the appellation, traditionally harvesting by hand and vinifying the wine in a classic Piedmontese style. The result is a finely structured Barbaresco that balances ripe fruit, freshness and age-worthy tannins. The magnum format is particularly well suited to extended maturation.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 18°C after allowing the wine to come gradually to cellar temperature. Decant for around 1–2 hours when drinking young to soften the tannins and open the aromatics; older bottles should be handled gently and decanted only if sediment is present. Its structure and savoury character make it an excellent match for braised beef, roasted game, truffle pasta, porcini risotto, rich mushroom dishes and mature hard cheeses.
