Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep ruby color with a bright, youthful core. Aromas lean toward blackcurrant, red cherry, violets, cedar, and subtle spice, with hints of pencil shavings and fresh earth adding complexity. The palate is usually medium-bodied and finely textured, with ripe red and black fruit framed by firm but graceful tannins. The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux is often more restrained than warmer years, which can bring freshness, precision, and length rather than sheer power. With proper cellaring, it should age gracefully over the next 8 to 15 years, and possibly longer in a well-managed cellar.

Prieuré-Lichine is based in Margaux, where gravel-rich soils encourage drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve finesse and aromatic lift. The estate’s vineyards are planted to the classic Médoc varieties, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot contributing structure, fruit, and depth. Harvesting is typically carried out parcel by parcel to preserve the character of each site, followed by careful sorting and traditional Bordeaux vinification designed to balance extraction, freshness, and elegance.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, entrecôte, duck breast, beef tenderloin, mushroom dishes, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 1 to 2 hours is recommended if drinking young, to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic complexity.
