Prackfol, Südtiroler Sauvignon 2023 White

Prackfol’s 2023 Südtiroler Sauvignon is a vibrant, terroir-driven white wine from Italy’s Alto Adige region. Its combination of citrus freshness, elderflower aromatics, lively acidity and mineral precision makes it an elegant expression of Sauvignon Blanc, with a clean style shaped by stainless-steel vinification rather than oak.

Tasting Notes
Bright and fresh in appearance, the wine offers expressive aromas of citrus, elderflower and subtle spice. On the palate, it is taut and invigorating, with crisp acidity, a focused structure and a distinctly mineral finish. The brief period on fine lees adds gentle texture and complexity while preserving the grape’s fresh, primary character. It is best enjoyed young for its energy and aromatic clarity, although it should develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The grapes are sourced from the mountainous South Tyrolean terroir, where the region’s cool climate helps retain Sauvignon Blanc’s natural acidity and aromatic precision. After a gentle pressing, the must is temperature-controlled and fermented in stainless-steel tanks to preserve its fresh citrus and floral character. The wine then spends a short period on fine lees, enhancing texture and complexity without introducing oak flavours.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This Sauvignon is a natural match for shellfish and crustaceans, asparagus, delicate fish dishes and lighter preparations featuring fresh herbs or gentle spice. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow its aromas to emerge.
