Description
Pouilly-Fumé Aubaine 2023 is a refined Loire Valley white made from Sauvignon Blanc, combining the grape’s natural freshness with the distinctive mineral character associated with Pouilly-Fumé. The appellation has been celebrated for centuries for producing expressive Sauvignon Blancs, and this cuvée offers an elegant, terroir-driven interpretation with excellent balance.
Tasting Notes
Bright and pale in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of citrus, white peach, fresh pear and delicate floral notes, complemented by the subtle smoky, flinty nuance characteristic of Pouilly-Fumé. On the palate, it is crisp and focused, with lively acidity, ripe orchard fruit and a gently mineral finish.
The 2023 vintage is approachable in its youth, while its structure and freshness should allow it to develop additional complexity over the next few years. With careful cellaring, expect the fruit to evolve towards deeper mineral, waxy and lightly nutty notes.
Production
Produced in the Loire Valley from Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, the wine reflects the region’s combination of cool climate and mineral-rich soils. Grapes are harvested at careful levels of ripeness to preserve both aromatic precision and natural acidity, then gently pressed and fermented to retain the purity of the fruit and the character of the terroir. Further maturation allows the wine to gain texture while keeping its fresh, energetic profile.
Food & Serving
Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Pouilly-Fumé Aubaine is a natural partner for oysters, mussels, grilled prawns, fresh goat’s cheese and seafood salads, while its mineral freshness also works beautifully with asparagus, ceviche and lightly seasoned white fish. Decanting is not essential, although a brief period of aeration in the glass or a small decanter can help reveal its full aromatic depth.
