Post House Missing Virgin 2021 is a characterful Stellenbosch red from one of South Africa’s most distinctive estates. Crafted by Post House, a family-run producer with roots stretching back to 1981, it combines Helderberg freshness, thoughtful winemaking, and a sense of place that reflects the estate’s long and unusual history as a former post office.

Production
Post House is located between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, on the slopes of Helderberg, where the vineyards benefit from a unique coastal influence. The estate’s 70 hectares are planted mainly to classic Bordeaux and Rhône varieties, and the cool southwesterly winds help balance the naturally humid conditions, reducing the need for irrigation. Since Nick Gebers began making wine in 1996, the focus has been on expressive, terroir-driven wines, with each cuvée given a distinctive name inspired by the estate’s past.

Food & Serving
This red will pair well with grilled lamb, roast beef, game, or richly flavoured mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C to show its balance and depth, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if you want to let the wine open fully.

Post House was founded by the Gebers family, who purchased the property in 1981 and transformed it from a grape-growing farm into a respected wine estate. The name pays tribute to the building’s former life as a post office, and that sense of heritage continues through the estate’s storytelling approach to wine. Today, Post House is known in Stellenbosch for producing distinctive wines with personality and a strong connection to its history and terroir.
