Portium Cava Brut is a refined Spanish sparkling wine offering an appealing alternative to Champagne, with fine bubbles, generous fruit and refreshing acidity. Produced in the heart of Penedès, just south of Barcelona, it combines Mediterranean character with the elegance of extended bottle ageing. Founded in 1985, Portium has built a strong reputation in Spain and across Europe.

Tasting Notes
Bright and lively in the glass, this Cava shows a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is fresh and inviting, with clean citrus and orchard-fruit aromas complemented by subtle yeasty notes from its time ageing in bottle. On the palate, it is full-flavoured yet crisp, balancing refreshing acidity with a smooth, rounded finish. It is best enjoyed in its youth, when its freshness and effervescence are at their most vibrant, though its two years of cellar ageing provide added complexity.

Production
Portium’s 100 hectares of vineyards lie in the Penedès region, protected by the Montserrat mountains and influenced by a Mediterranean climate with maritime breezes. These conditions promote healthy, well-balanced grapes with bright natural acidity. The grapes are pressed very gently, and the first fermentation takes place in September at a controlled 15°C. After the cuvée is assembled, the wine is bottled during the winter, where it undergoes a second fermentation at 16°C. The bottles then rest horizontally in the cellar for two years, developing finesse and depth before release.

Food & Serving
A versatile aperitif, Portium Cava Brut is also an excellent match for seafood, fish, shellfish and crustaceans. Try it with oysters, prawns, mussels, grilled fish or delicate sushi. Serve well chilled at approximately 6–8°C. Decanting is not recommended, as it would diminish the wine’s lively bubbles; pour gently into flute or white-wine glasses to preserve its freshness and aroma.
