Sourced from a prized parcel in Le Crau, one of the appellation’s most respected terroirs, this 2023 debut captures the freshness and elegance that have made Domaine Porte Rouge one of the region’s rising names.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a vivid, youthful ruby hue that hints at its vibrant fruit profile. The nose opens with layers of raspberry, cherry, and liquorice, wrapped in sweet spice and subtle garrigue, giving it a distinctly Rhône character. On the palate, it is silky and supple, with fine tannins and impressive freshness balancing the ripe fruit. Notes of morello cherry, juicy black raspberry, violet, and herbs of the Mediterranean linger beautifully, suggesting both immediate charm and the potential to evolve gracefully over the next several years.

Production
Cuvée J U comes from a small parcel in Le Crau, a highly regarded sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape known for producing wines of depth and finesse. The blend is led by Grenache, supported by Cinsault and Mourvèdre, and was made without added sulfites, with a vinification philosophy designed to let the fruit and terroir speak clearly. It was matured for six months in concrete egg before bottling, a choice that preserves freshness while adding texture and subtle complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for roast lamb, Provençal-style dishes, grilled duck, herb-crusted meats, and rich vegetable stews. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a brief decant of 30–60 minutes if enjoying it young, to help the aromatics open fully.
