Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is deeply coloured and remarkably polished, with the kind of concentration expected from a great Pauillac. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, violets, and subtle hints of spice and tobacco, all delivered with impressive clarity. On the palate, it is layered and powerful yet remarkably composed, showing ripe dark fruit, mineral tension, firm but refined tannins, and a long, persistent finish. While already impressive in youth, this is a wine built to age beautifully, gaining complexity over the next 15–25 years or more.

Production
Pontet-Canet is located on the gravelly soils of Pauillac, where the deep, well-draining terroir is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate is known for its biodynamic approach and careful hand-harvesting, with vinification designed to preserve freshness, precision, and the natural character of the fruit.

This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef Wellington, duck breast, game, or rich mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to fully unfold.
